Taygete by Deisgns by Romi
A lovely nymph pursued by Zeus, Taygete was said to have been transformed by Artemis into a doe to elude capture. Later, the deception being unsuccessful, she bore Zeus a son, Lacedaemon, the founder of Sparta. The shawl bearing Taygete’s name is a lovely combination of the woodland greens through which she ran and played in her doe form. Fit for every day use in stripes and lace, the construction is side to side in the upper portion, with stitches easily picked up in the loops around the shaped triangle and knit down in lace. A picot edging is then knit on around the entire shawl border. The pattern includes instructions to calculate requirements for different yardages based on a percentage system.
